Positive the educational experience of the project "Iris" in collaboration with parents and grandparents
An outdoor barbecue, with specialties such as Bergamo salami, ribs and polenta, crowned the first experience of the project "School Gardens" launched State Technical Institute of Agriculture in Via Borgo Palazzo association "Friends of the Community Garden - Auser provincial." A party within the same institution that has involved some forty people, including teachers - among them the coordinator John Castellana - pupils, parents and grandparents initiators.
Bringing young people to agriculture and nature was the theme of the project which was launched last January 7 all'Agrario. In collaboration with the school grandparents of the association, a fortnight, they have made available some of the students' of their time to show how to work the land, from planting to fruit. The lessons of gardening, aimed at small groups at a time and during school hours, were given in the garden and greenhouses that arise in the same complex.
During the party organized yesterday by the association from 18, were handed a dozen dell'Agrario certificates to as many students, aged between 14 and 16 who have followed this first course called "Iris." The grid, arranged between the warehouse and garden tools, was also a nice excuse to end a fun project.
"Being useful to society and particularly the young - says Alberto Sangalli, coordinator of the association - was the driving force that led us to undertake this initiative that we offer for free. And who better than the school could be helpful in attaining this objective? So, after the start of "Project Iris" all'Agrario, the "school garden" should be the normal continuation of our social activities. The onset of this occurred just Institute Via Borgo Palazzo, which has granted us the use of this ground and the nearby greenhouse. Of course there claimed by providing the basic tools for cultivation. "
'On the basis of this success - Sangalli added - we began to receive similar requests from different classes including nursery and primary schools in the area, in particular districts Boccaleone, CELADINA, Colognola and Monterosso. We plan to develop the initiative and then giving birth to the other school gardens are intended to give practical demonstrations of the children. "
